I’m dedicated to creating content and providing services that expand consciousness and ignite meaningful change. Below are the ways in which I inspire, guide, and empower others along their journey. All of my professional services are driven by a deep, insatiable desire to help people heal, learn, and grow so that we can foster lasting well-being and create healthy organizations.

Writing

How do we overcome that which threatens to kill us? What does it mean to live and be well? How can we learn to love? These important questions drive both of my latest writing projects I Wanna Get High and I Wanna Be Free. Grounded in an existential approach and informed by extensive lived experience, both books offer practical individual and collective solutions to some of our most wicked human struggles.

Speaking Engagements

Learning and growing must be fulfilling and fun! For this reason, think of my oratory work as the intersection of storytelling, stand-up philosophy, and extemporaneous education. Whether it is through the I Wanna Get High podcast, bespoke presentations, or public speaking engagements, all of these experiences are thoughtfully engineered to inspire change through providing valuable insight and practical action.

Organization Development

For over a decade I have worked in the personal and organizational development field as a coach, consultant, and university instructor. My areas of specialization are in culture, interpersonal communications, change management, personal transformation, and subjective well-being. I work with executives, emerging leaders, and management teams looking to increase effectiveness and design health into their organizations.

FAQ

What is Your Professional Background Experience?
My very “colorful” past led to quite an interesting and useful pastiche of professional experience. For the past 7 years, I served as a wellness coach and healthcare consultant, working with people and families to overcome those obstacles that prevent lasting well-being. This work included behavioral health interventions, family healthcare management, and intensive 1-on-1 personal and professional development. My coaching and consulting specializes in working with executives, emerging leaders, and young adults. I have consulted for multiple healthcare organizations to provide training, program, and organization development services.

Throughout the past decade, I also completed a Ph.D. at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where my researched focused on creating healthy human systems via organization development and behavior initiatives. As part of my time in academia, I served as a university instructor and taught public administration, management communication, organization behavior classes for nearly 5 years. Additionally, I served as an Executive Director for non-profit organization that provided health and wellness support services to veterans. All of these professional experiences inform both my content creation as well as my speaking and coaching services.

How is Your Consulting Work Different from Others?

What differentiates me from other coaches is my lived experience, unrivaled passion, and an alternative, expansive approach. All consulting services are informed by my professional background as a wellness coach, academic researcher, and organizational health specialist. This is all driven by a deep dedication to helping people unlock their potential and realize their greatness.

Even more important, and cliché as it may sound, I meet clients exactly where they are. We all have different histories, preferences, and needs that require individualized consideration at all costs. For this reason, all consulting and coaching sessions are carefully curated and tailored to meet each client’s exact needs. When I say my work is completely personalized, I really mean it.

What is Your Approach to Fostering Well-Being?

My approach is driven by a “do whatever it takes” mentality (within reason) in effort to foster balance, self-love, fulfillment, enrichment, and higher levels of inner peace. This means I work intimately with clients to co-create their own, personal path toward well-being. The foundation for most of our work, therefore, is to identify and implement the necessary structures, processes, and practices that will enable them to have a healthier relationship with themselves and others.

Out of All the Talent Out There, Why Hire Me to Speak to Your School, Business, or Team?

For 38 years my life was graced with an inordinate amount of pain, suffering, and trauma. I have been forced to face countless sicknesses, trials, and tribulations, many of which nearly took me out. Through the help of many, we were able to transmute all that toxicity into nourishment. I faced death head on many times and overcame all that which threatened to kill me. In doing so, it blessed me with the greatest lessons and life education one could ask for.

A person’s severe struggle and overcoming extreme adversity are often sources of great wisdom. This was wisdom that was, quite literally, gifted to me and I feel must be shared with others. My work is driven by a deep, sincere desire to make a difference. Not only can my story and all the lessons learned be inspiring, but they can provide valuable insights, shortcuts, and tools to help others take an equally as fulfilling yet less difficult path. The struggle required enormous resilience, grit, and courage, all of which I wish to share with others to support them along their path.

Drawing upon decades of harrowing lived experience as well as years of professional expertise, Wilson takes us on an existential roller coaster ride that explores all the core components that constitute one’s addiction pattern. Along the way, he provides those still struggling, parents and loved ones, professionals, and providers with heartfelt advice, keen insights, and strategic guidance to help them along their journey. As Wilson convincingly illuminates, addiction is a crisis that we have collectively created, and for us to overcome it we must learn love fully, radically, and unconditionally.

I Wanna Get High seeks to provide a refreshing and much needed challenge to the conventional ways we think about, talk about, and treat addiction. It departs from the dominant discourse and aims to extricate us from traditional approaches by asking us to think critically and expansively about the “what is” and “how to” questions of addiction. As Wilson suggests, addiction is far more than faulty beliefs and maladaptive behavioral responses – it is an unhealthy way of being. Instead, at the core of an addictive pattern is a person in a severe existential crisis driven by a deeply dysfunctional relationship with oneself and questions of whether to live or die.

Addiction runs rampant throughout our society, destroying lives and bringing with it astronomical costs of all kinds. Despite the undeniable destruction that addiction causes, there exists a notable void of thoughtful and substantive solutions. The discourse remains entangled with, and dominated by, approaches that are deeply limiting, disempowering, and misleading. Cookie-cutter models such as AA and Abstinence prevail, despite overwhelmingly disappointing outcomes. We are in dire need of individualized, imaginative, and alternative solutions.
